I've become obsessed with finding terriers in the their natural habitat (Westies in the West Highlands, etc.), and otherwise pretending that other Terriers are in their natural habitat. So I will be calling this one a New Amsterdam Terrier or a Fresh Salt Terrier regardless of what kind of terrier it is. Also, RWM will be joining us.

5: "Regardless of which kind of terrier" does sum her up fairly accurately.

1: Quiet, you, or I'll make the post title orange.

You've got a grownup daughter in New York? I had no idea.

Have a good evening everyone.

Just saying that in the unlikely event we have a meetup in my part of the world, our local is extremely dog-friendly. Crom was known by name to staff and regulars, and had her own bowl kept behind the bar, months before anyone knew my name. "Crom!" they'd all shout delightedly as soon as she appeared through the door. Enough to make me wish we had actually named Crom "Crom" just to hear the Hyperborean chorus.

Roughly what is your part of the world? I still haven't picked where to go this summer. Considering Ardnamurchan. Or just repeating a place we've already been, maybe already too late for Harris though.

15: Galloway. Let me know if you're passing through.

Ardnamurchan is well worth it. Or pick, really, any of the islands. CalMac used to have as its slogan "We Sail To 23 Scottish Islands" and I've been to 17 of them: Gigha, Cumbrae, Islay, Jura, Colonsay, Coll, Tiree, Eigg, Muck, Canna, Barra, North Uist, South Uist, Lewis, Berneray, Eriskay, Arran. 18 if you count Lewis and Harris as separate islands which you shouldn't really because they aren't but people still do. Still to get to Mull, Iona, Raasay, Bute and Lismore but I'm sure they're very nice as well.

We were in Wigtown very briefly last summer, so it's unlikely we'll be back in the area, though I had been thinking about checking out the other Johnston's of Elgin tour in Hawick, since the tour in Elgin was so great.

In terms of islands I've been to Arran, Skye, Lewis & Harris, Mainland Orkney, Mainland Shetland, and took a bus across Mull to take a boat to Staffa and Lunga. Ardnamurchan would definitely involve more Mull. I'm putting of Islay until we can do it in shoulder season and avoid the crowds. I really really want to do more of the Western Isles, but it always requires planning ahead more than I can do since there's so little lodging out there, and I've been hoping for the ferry situation to improve... Having limited exposure to ferries that require pre-booking is a selling point for Ardnamurchan. Though it might be late June this year so maybe I should make more midge-safe plans this time.

My island collecting goal is to get all 10 of the largest British Isles. I'm missing Islay and the Isle of Man.

Hawick Tour. Just spit on that thang. (And by "that thang" I mean Hawick.)

Absolutely lovely meetup. I shouldn't be allowed to show up for these things, it's terrible for my ego.

I should note that Rhymes With Maria has knitted my absolutely favorite hat pattern for Upetigi, and also immediately recognized the pattern for the socks I I knitted and was wearing for the meetup.

I don't remember who was listenng when I was saying it, but the only non-news media I've been consuming for months and months has been stuff on dropout.tv and I'm not sorry.

My parents still haven't decided which/how many museums or ferries they think we should try to do tomorrow. In case anyone is trying to keep track.
