Wow. Also on the topic of women's rights in Iran: I was told by several people (because I was so incredulous) that if a man murders a woman, and that man is executed as punishment, the murdered woman's family owes his family money, because a woman's life is legally worth half a man's. It's the worst of Iran, and there are just enough people, like the uncles in these accounts, who believe in it.
