I interpreted the article differently. The Rove edge was implied to be his relentless courting of micro-interest groups. (Not the same as the Clinton / Morris micro-policy strategy.)
The article is almost inspirational from a marketing standpoint. I was thinking of passing the article around at work. Of course, what makes good sense for corporate marketing is rather more distasteful in politicy-making.

Well, there was the grand strategy, which I wrote about; there's the edge, that you mention, and there was the secret weapon, the 72-hour grass-roots task force. It was a great article.
And, as much as I'm tempted to condemn Rove, I think it's much more important that liberals stop wishing for some great world in which his tactics aren't rewarded and do something about beating him.
