It is unfortunately typical of DD, I'll give you that.
Reading that thread, it seems Landsburg wasn't as obviously wrong as DD claimed, but Landsburg hasn't exactly explained himself dispositively; I'm still confused, as, it seems, are Lindsay Beyerstein and DD, about the distinction being drawn between "quantum information" and "information."
As for Daniel's style, I'll forgive him a lot just for spicing up the sometimes offensively boring Crooked Timber.
DD's scorched earth crusades would be great, if he weren't frequently wrong/uncharitable. I don't find CT boring (although sometimes tedious, in a classic academic fashion), but John and Belle were better served posting exclusively at their own place. Those two are quality.
