i read the piece on farmhouse ales - interesting because i like ale... but that whole election thing made me forget what it was about. strange to think that life continues in its many facets still...

Turducken ain't all that, let me tell you. It sounds like a good idea, but the reality is that the turkey just overwhelms everything else. So you just end up feeling like you had turkey - except at a higher price and without the stuffing.

I actually was a fan of the deep fried turkey. It was pretty damn juicy. The only problem with it is the number of people that die every year from fires that start when people cook it.

Who says that fried turkeys are dead? Every grocery store around me is offering both baked and fried turkeys for Thanksgiving take out. Of course, I live in New Orleans.

Who says that fried turkeys are dead?

You know, they almost never survive the frying process. In fact, it's generally considered best to kill them long before you dip them in the fryer.

For the tasting, my colleague Florence Fabricant and I were joined by Joe Carroll, owner of Spuyten Duyvil, a bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that specializes in Belgian beers

I can attest that Spuyten Duyvil is a great little bar, it's just a couple blocks down the street from me. The only problem is that I have no idea how to pronounce "Spuyten Duyvil", and have been too shy to ask thus far. Don't want to look like a hick, ya know?

Uh, that was me above, the one who lives near Spuyten Duyvil.
