Oh, yeah...there are some smart technologies behind that itty-bitty box. Apple has that plug and play thing down cold.
I'm also using it as a print server. And you aren't a real geek until you've called your family down to dinner by using Rendezvous to send all the kids an iChat message.
It indeed is cool technology just for the iTunes streaming. Unfortunately for me, PZ, I bought an HP psc 1350 all-in-one printer, copier, scanner -- and I can't get the HP software to recognize the printer when I plug it into Airport Express.
Oh, I can print documents from my iMac, all right. But I can't download pictures when I insert a photo memory card into the slot, and I can't scan documents and save them to the iMac (unless I unplug the printer from Airport Express and plug the printer directly into a USB hub connected directly to the computer). When the printer is plugged into Airport, every time I start or wake up the computer, HP's setup program starts up.
I would like to connect the printer permanently to Airport Express because we're going to buy our son an XP laptop and would like him to be able to print via WiFi.
I'm disappointed, and if you have any suggestions, let me know. I sure do like being able to stream iTunes to my stereo, though. I can even stream an Air America affiliate in Key West through iTunes and over the stereo. Very cool!
