I'm not in the city proper, but in the suburbs north and a bit westish.

It sure beats having all those pollacks around...no no, kidding, kidding. No problem at all, but I got off the plane, got into a cab, and the driver was russian. Called the health club; a russian answered. At the health club, I hear english, and russian. Guy in the lane next to me: russian. Went to the furniture store, salesman was russian. My mom had some work done on her place; by russians. It's just been remarkable.

Maybe you're in the Prospect Heights area? That's the biggest concentration in all of Chicagoland, AFAIK.
