Re: In which I side with Instapundit against gay people

I can't find any mention of this in the school newspaper. I've heard of universities doing a lot of dumb things, but this seems a little extrodinary to be believable without a second news source.

It is interesting that the conservative Prof is being defended by the ACLU. I bet you aren't going to hear much about that.

But, really, if he gave the possible explanaiton that "it could be because they usually don't have children" then I don't see much problem. On the other hand, if he had already said something like "couples with children tend to plan more for the future then couples without children" then why go farther and single out gays?

Are homosexuals less likely to "couple" as well? Maybe you plan more for the future when you're married or quasi-married, as well as when you have children.

I think that professors should basically be fired for saying things. We have too many of these academics shooting off their mouths in public places, and we need to send a message: stop saying things, on either side of the political spectrum.

He said there is a belief among some economists that one of the 20th century's most influential economists, John Maynard Keynes, was influenced in his beliefs by his homosexuality. Keynes espoused a "spend it now" philosophy to keep an economy strong....

There's also an intriguing idea among most straight white males that only one type of person is not adversely affected by their biological makeup. Coincidentally, that type is the straight white male.

You cut that quote off a little early, didn't you, Mithras?

"Keynes espoused a "spend it now" philosophy to keep an economy strong, much as President Bush did after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks."

It's not up to me to point out that the author is implying President Bush is homosexual.

No, he's not. He's supplying an example to explain the concept.

Oh, Mithras, now you're trying to push Bush back in the closet, too?

Wasn't Keynes happily married to a Russian ballerina by the time of Bretton Woods?

Actually, Keynes is well known for advocating deficit spending on uncomfortable but fantastic shoes, particularly those of Kenneth Cole.

Mith, I *was* being facetious. Though I do think it an odd way to prove a point, "You see, homosexuals behave in this manner, just like this archetypical straight man!"

Around here, the home of popeye's, certain Popeyes locations have placards, "yet another Church's chicken put out of business by Popeye's."
