Something I've wondered--just how many idiot man-children are there in Yoknapatawpha? There's one in The Sound and the Fury, and that kid with the cow in The Hamlet (and also the retarded Snopes kid, but I can't remember if they're the same person), and something's up with the kids in As I Lay Dying, and that, along with The Town and The Mansion, is all the Faulkner I've read. But he's got a lot more books and for all I know each one has two such characters.
