Re: Good Playoffs!

I understand he's related to the Stoudemire who made such a showing for the University of Arizona this year. Interesting point for the Nuh Uh discussion, maybe, although it doesn't really address nature v. nurture.

Their last names aren't spelled the same way: Amare, Salim. Though I guess they could still be related.

Rats. That's what I get for listening to guys who seem to have an air of confidence about them. I must work this into conversation sometime in the near future.

Never accept rats from guys with an air of confidence about them.

The Spurs played hard tonight—I'm consistently amazed by their transition speed. I thought that surely Phoenix would sew this one up, but SA moves so quickly between plays, and it just helps to always have Bowen in the corner ready for the three.

Obligatory Fan comment:

I didn't watch all of the WCF, but I thought that Sonics played the spurs tougher. The game recap says, "They're even happier about not having to see Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns until next season." I'm sure the spurs are happy to advance to the finals, but I can't imagine that they were anywhere near as unhappy playing against Nash and Stoudamire who scored well but didn't play (much) defense as they were about getting beat up by Collison, Fortson, and Evans of the Sonics.

The Spurs are powered by the same evil sun that gave us the Bush Administration. Duncan clearly has pictures of David Stern with the proverbial "live boy." The hit on Joe Johnson in the Dallas series was the work of a cabal that clearly included the Mavs and the Spurs, and probably included the Rockets. Having failed in stealing the Sixth Amendment, the Oil Men of Texas are going after the next most valuable thing - the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Our only hope comes from the east, where the sun, if not the Suns, rises. I don't like the Pistons much, but for the sake of the country, I may have to start supporting them.

(No ogged, I'm not drunk. Yet.)

Salim is related to Damon, though (cousins).

SCMT hates Tex-Mex food (but loves Mexican!) and Texas basketball (but loves basketball!), both arenas in which Texas triumphs. Sounds like Texas envy to me.

I have no idea what SCMT is going on about. What the hell is wrong with the Spurs? They're good, they're likable, they play a not-entirely-boring style of ball.

Kriston - Don't confuse fury with with envy. See below. (I am, however, envious of Austin.)

Ogged - why do you hate America? The Spurs are your classic Red team: nice manners lead people to ignore the lapse in a basketball ethic that their championships represent. Bowen is a dirty player (just as Stockton, another famously nice guy, was). Duncan's a great player, but gets foul calls that no one else in the league gets. Parker is friggin' French. Ginobli should be averaging a couple of charges a game. The only explanation of Horry's career at this point is a deal with the devil. Popovich...well, I like Popovich, but he's ex-military, so he probably voted for Bush.

If the Spurs are crowned champions, the terrorists win.
