There are limits to "being a good sport," beyond which it starts to reflect poorly on one's judgment. I believe the woman in that story crossed that limit.

Pulling back is NOT an effective method of prophylaxis!

A few years back I worked for a company that ran a lot of reproductive health clinical trials. A particular study was on emergency contraception and, logically, one of the collected datapoints was the reason for needing EC. One of the available options was "withdrawal failure," a somehow separate category from "no birth control used." The phrase made me chuckle: "I tried to pull it out, but it's just so damn long."
