Are Nomar's and Mia's children going to be superhuman? Agassi's and Graf's?
Nomar needs a mild-mannered secret identity.
Nomar needs a mild-mannered secret identity.
One who knows nothing about baseball.
The Boston sports press is such a bunch of unredeemable jackals. They will no doubt find some slighting, cynical, or mean-spirited take. It is useful to note that of the 7 Red Sox players of the past 20 years who achieved "perennial All-Star" status (Rice, Boggs, Clemens, Martinez, Ramirez, Nomar, Vaughn), all of them ended up persona non grata.
"Well sure, he'll jump in these days when the water's still warm -- who wouldn't? Believe me, you won't be hearing about any more of these Nomar maritime rescues come December."
(I can't believe it, but this news actually makes me sad that Jimmy Fallon left SNL)
But still happy overall that he's disappeared, right? Right.
You know, Tom, I had the exact same response! I flashed immediately to the Fallon/Derek Jeter "Point-Counter-Point" skit.
"Nomar needs a mild-mannered secret identity.
One who knows nothing about baseball."
No, that's his actual known identity. Mild mannered, health deteriorating, skills declining, possibly P-whipped. At the very least he needs a Hulk-like raging alternative identity. More likely, he needs the roids!
I'm not a Noma Hata but the story sounds sketchy to me. Where'd the husbands come from so suddenly, and why did they whisk away their wives before they could even get an autograph? Were they worried Nomarstud would keep them and add them to his Harem?
> Victor Garciaparra jumped from the balcony to the water 20 feet below.
His uncle is a stud too.
why did they whisk away their wives before they could even get an autograph
To take them to the hospital, it seems?
Weiner--how did the restatement thing go? Have you gotten any sleep?
I read that part. It just set off my bullshit detector, is all.
Thanks for asking, bg. I made it through Tuesday's classes--had enough to talk about Enron for the undergrad class, and then the people who were presenting in the graduate class carried me pretty far (they actually know this stuff); I think I may have to do some recap next week about some of the more general material on conflict of interests and how they arise. I still need to prep for Thursday (usually I try to get that done at the beginning of the week), and I'm behind in updating the course website and all that. But I should be able to scrape through; maybe I'll have to skip some services. This wasn't the best week to have tons of meetings on Monday and Wednesday.
