Re: Grrr

C'mon over. I'm still in bed, watching movies and blogging and such. It's a great way to spend Saturday morning :)

You have to admit that that sounds like more fun than running over a dog.

But why a dog? From the post, you've got some co-workers that need killin'.

I'm assuming that Ogged hasn't yet responded because he's on his way over. Else, it's time for some brain damage.

It's scary how once you start clicking to old comment threads, those old threads link to older threads, which link to older threads...how deep does the rabbit hole go in the Minshaft Matrix?

You were probably there 5 minutes early too, huh?

It's turtles all the way down -- nothing but comment threads, to all eternity.

I've checked.

In some instances, the suit contends, people on the Match payroll even went on sham dates with subscribers as a marketing ploy.

When the shy, pointy-headed Persian picked up the perky "professor," he didn't know she was just doing her job. But when her prickly boyfriend, Trevor, starts making fun of that loser she's hanging around with, she's got this strange urge to defend him.... Could she be starting to fall for him? Will she ever be able to come clean that the date was a marketing ploy, designed to get him to renew his subscription? And that the hedgehog she's always talking about is really a tall, supercilious, closeted philosophy professor? Find out in "Meeting Your Match," starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Noth, and Jonathan Pryce as the Gayatollah. Coming soon to a theater near you.

You've miscast Chris Noth, unless you have him wearing a prosthetic head.

Chris Noth (this is all I really know of the man).

Oops. How my grip on our blog tropes has loosened.

In any event, Chris Noth's head isn't anywhere near as pointy as ogged makes his out to be. He would definitely need some putty up there.

But that's nitpicking. The rest of 9 is spot on. (Is Reese Witherspoon the new Meg Ryan?)

I think I need to recast the Gayatollah as The Rock, as a supercilious philosophy professor. He could do it, right?

If not, maybe Liev Schreiber.

This may be an odd question - probably not, considering where I'm asking it - but does anyone know what this means:

"sed potius commune quoddam ex omnibus, et plus quam bellum"

It's in something I'm reading. Strangely enough, google doesn't seem to have a Latin translation option.

"but something compounded of all these strifes, and in itself more than war"

"Said the President of the Invincible United States, goddamn hippies who used to live in communes ate plum jam and bell peppers. Yum."

What Sumner was quoting.

Thanks, SB.

It's sort of sad that I don't even know enough Latin to be able to realize that Sumner provided the translation before the quotation. That Bartleby version is heavily abridged, I'm trying to read the whole thing.

No, no, no. I'd be played by Hope Davis.
