LB, you make the mistake of thinking that the administration cares that anything (ANYTHING) looks suspicious.
They're drunk on power and behind the wheel of our country. Shiiiiiiiit.
The Florida prosecutor investigating radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh will soon be weighing cases rather than prosecuting them. Gov. Jeb Bush has announced Assistant State Attorney James Martz has been appointed a Palm Beach County judge, filling a vacancy left after this year's legislative session.
I predict that come December 2008, the pardons will be flying fast and furious.
Ha, apostropher scooped his own blog. That's ironical.
"Appearance of Impropriety" should be the motto of this administration.
Apostropher, the man with the internet in his back pocket, blogged this a couple of days ago.
No, he's just happy to see me.
2 - Bush has actually done this in another Abramoff case as well, which makes the coincidence explanation even more of a stretch.
One day after a grand jury subpoena is issued for records regarding shady transactions concerning Abramoff, the federal prosecutor, who held his position for more than a decade, is reassigned. He is replaced by the cousin of one of the main targets of the investigation, who promptly recuses himself of the matter. End of investigation.
Strangely enough, this prevented Abramoff from being indicted before the 2004 election cycle.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

If you count quoting a Digby post in whole and adding ten words of my own (three of which were "Well, well, well") as blogging it, then yeah.
Thanks for the link -- I moved it up to the post.

I think this misreads the Administration. They know they aren't going to get called on much of this, and they know why they aren't going to get called on much of this. I can't decide if they are unbelievably adept, we are unbelievably lame, or the media is unbelievably craven and stupid. Probably all of the above.
I've forgotten how to comment! There are so many new posts!
(Really, guys, this is awesome.)
SCMT: If what you say is true, none of it negates my point that the administration just doesn't care about the appearance of impropriety.
Joe Conason was talking about this on Al Franken's show. He said that he had thought that iw would be impossible for Bush to stop an investigation in process, but that it had never occured to him that they would simply promote the guy.
For more on Bush's judges judicial impropriety. Salon has an article about a guy in Oklahoma who was appointed by Bush--Judge Payne--who failed to recuse himself in a case involving Pfizer even though he owned $15K worth of Pfizer stock.
"President Bush has just nominated him for a better job as a federal district judge"
Four days ago this was news.
Glad to know I'm being read.
Apologies. Wrong link. five days ago. (Yes, I read the full post, and the comments. I'm just saying, five days, not two.)
Sorry, I probably read it at your place and forgot -- I had no idea I was going to be blogging here until yesterday morning, and have screwed up credit issues on both posts because they were based on stuff I read before I was thinking about keeping track of where I saw it first. I will improve, honestly!
"I will improve, honestly!"
I'm sure. Practice will help. You're a primary reason I'm not taking Unfogged off the blogroll just yet, if at all. Although I also love Alameida to death, of course, and everyone who has been promoted is also, so far as I've ever seen, Very Fine. Just saying that I also go back aways with you in ways I don't with the other promotees, so to speak.
I get grouchy at times and feel unread and unlinked. This is a character flaw, because I kinda want more attention than I get, because I have the character flaw. Not an excuse, but it will happen from time to time, I'm afraid.
As I might have said on one of the other threads (I write too much, too fast, in too many places, and have a crap memory too often), I expect to be posting a fair amount fairly regularly for at least the next few weeks, if anyone gives a damn.
The annoying thing about blogging as a means of communication is that if I'm not linked, and you don't leave a comment -- not that there's the faintest obligation for anyone to do either, nor, of course, to read me out of the zillions of fine and better and more specialized blogs that grow in number every day -- you're invisible to me. Flaw of the medium and present tools.
I also pay no attention to blog awards, for the simple reason that in four years, no one has ever nominated me for a damn thing. Again, this is because there are so many much better blogs than mine. Still. You know?
But I do blog mostly for myself, in the end, and that's the only way to do it.
