I don't know. I contemplated sock-feet, but ended up deciding that my risk of being told "You can't work out like that" were higher if I had no shoes at all. The loafers are flat, and have rubber treads, so not egregiously problematic, but I still felt like a complete ass.
You could say you wandered out of yoga class.
What it they asked me to prove it, though? I can't even touch my toes.
I sort of fell over while trying to do the tree pose the other day.
I imagine that working out barefoot is prohibited.
If it didn't offend my frugal Midwestern sensibilities, I would totally spring for the service at my gym where you not only get an assigned locker to keep your gym shoes and toiletries but where they wash and fold your dirty gym clothes overnight. I just can't concede that I'm that lazy.
Everyone has a needlessly wasteful desire like that.
Personally, I've always wanted to buy big bags of tube socks at Costco or someplace, and then throw them away after wearing them once. Fresh, new socks every day!
And then, I remember my Sierra Club membership. Damn environmentalism...
How can you do squats and not have enough hamstring flexibility to touch your toes?
This makes me feel much, much more comfortable dragging my puny ass to the gym and struggling with pathetic amounts of weight. At least I'm not in ... loafers. I would have said, "Looks like I'm not gonna be able to work out today".
10: I can get down to parallel with my heels on the ground. Not really any further, though. And I add weight very, very cautiously because being near the limit of my flexibility makes balance more of an issue.
The bright side of being incredibly inflexible is that I don't get hurt. I've never turned an ankle, strained a tendon... all of my connective tissue seems to have been designed for something about the size of a rhinoceros.
I'm with Stroll, only less charitable: I hate you, LB, because now I won't be able to use things like "oh well, forgot my shoes" as an excuse to skip a workout.
If, that is, I ever actually start working out again.
Depends on the shoes, doesn't it? I went on because the shoes were as described in 2 -- in anything with a heel, I would have been outta there.
I don't actually wear heels all the time. Truly. Today I wore Doc Marten's.
Martens. Holy fuck. I must go flagellate myself now.
You could totally lift weights in Doc Martens. Heck, you could jog in Doc Martens. Not fast, mind you, but you could jog.
17: You're confusing self-flagellation with flagellation of others.
18: See, that's why I hate you. Because now I can't tell myself that DMs or whatever are inappropriate workout shoes. Maybe I *will* have to start wearing heels daily.
You're confusing self-flagellation with flagellation of others.
I manage to flagellate others without the use of pornography just about daily.
Even heels aren't a good enough excuse, B.
That's because it's large and hand-stretched, apo. If it were shorter it would require extreme measures.
(Note, I am not endorsing the ideas in 21. I think those women should be smacked upside the head.)
21 is just wrong. What is a class in walking in heels doing in a gym? Are there no charm schools?
Charm schools aren't what they used to be.
26: sure, sure. but then again, what is?
Eh, I already know how to wear heels and how to read a book while wearing a bra.
Ergo, I am completely charming.
Interesting. I always thought "light in the loafers" was just a figure of speech...
I know no one cares (or anyone who cares isn't around the blog right now) but what is going on with that Albany game?
If they hang on, it will the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA tournament by a very, very wide margin. It has been an amazing thing thing to watch.
Also, it would eliminate the #1 seed from UNC's regional. GO ALBANY!
Well, it looks like UConn's coming back, but thanks to CBS decisionmaking I haven't been able to watch much of it.
The local CBS affiliate here is running all four games on empty cable channels.
That must be one of the benefits of living in an area with a lot of college basketball fans. Out here it's just the Cal-NC St. game, which may be close in score but has felt over for a while.
