I'm sorry, but looking at this, the page tells me I first have to be running .Net to run Sharpreader. To get .Net, I have to run Windows Update. To run Windows Update, I have to use Internet Explorer.
I have to iterate and download a string of four programs I don't use. This is a heck of an effort and time. I might enjoy the end result, but I'm rather uninterested in having to download four separate programs, each of which I'd have to go separately find. Is this, at the end, only going to work with Internet Explorer, anyway? (A program I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.) Does it work with Mozilla? Do I have to go to the Microsoft site to find "Windows Update"? Will all this work with a Pentium I on Win98?
Life is short; I'm not fascinated enough by the prospect to spend hours on this project, particularly when I may not be able to use it, at the end, in any case.
Thanks, though, for the tip and advice.
I have .net so I didn't notice that Sharpreader required it. But it doesn't need IE at all (most aggregators work independently of your browser). In fact, I recommended it because all you have to do (if you have .net) is unzip and run. So forget it if you don't want to do windows update. Try feedreader instead (www.feedreader.com). I don't see anything about .net there. I swear it's worth the trouble.
