apostropher is correct. The photo she took is nice too.
I'm so excited about being able to take pictures like this since I got a tripod for Christmas. Here I come, several-second aperture!

Terrible pickup line, absolutely terrible.
3: Tripods rule. So much better than, "Hey, stand still for a bit. I'm going to use your shoulder."
Mine's only a tabletop tripod, but it will still be awesomer than no tripod. Maybe I will get a full-sized one someday.
The only problem with the tripod is the dorkiness factor. It makes me feel very conspicuous.
You'd feel a third as conspicuous with a monopod.
A tabletop monopod. Not as pointless as I expected.

Hey want to see some pictures I took with several-second exposure times and no tripod? Here they are. I think the blurriness kind of adds to the effect.
6: If you tend to take pictures at things like live shows, the tabletop tripod will actually serve you better than a big, clunky tripod (assuming you watch live music in clubs with tables).
I've used gloves, caps, and other ad hoc shims along with available surfaces. I don't want to carry a beanbag. If I have to carry something, I'd probably go for a full length tripod. Yes, it is dorky. A trick I learned was to use the timer (2 seconds) and that helps eliminate shake. This is best for shooting things that are standing still.
