I hear ya, Alameida, but since I don't know what you look like I guess I'll have to refrain from asking anyone at the party whether or not they got busted last week. Words to live by, really. Speaking of the party, if we bring a housewarming gift, do the hosts prefer beer, wine or liquor?

Yes.
Heh -- I'm going to spurn Becks by venting my frustration at not making it to the Con on this thread. Take that, Becks! Consider this payback for getting an apartment with your bloggy friends in DC instead of NYC where all the smart kids have their abodes. Wah.
Hey BTW: egg nog: better served at room temp., cold, or hot? If hot, what is the best way of heating it without (a) cooking the eggs or (b) breaking down the whipped cream? Or should I heat it prior to folding in the whipped cream?
I like my eggnog cool. If you are heating it, do it before folding in the whipped cream. Oh, for extra lightness, reserve some of the egg whites and after whipping them fold them in.
A great party game, like truth or dare, but with arrests and convictions. Nah, not so good.
I made meringue cookies with the egg whites already, as detailed earlier on the "Dish on the Menu" thread. They are very nice. If you guys woulda had a Con where I could come to it, you would be able to munch them. But no, you guys wanted the proximity to the halls of government. Fuckin journalists and consultants.
Oh and thanks md 0.05. If heating it is not required, I am not going to. I will let it come to room temp though.
I'm with Ben on heating eggnog: I don't think it is needed. But I understand the worries.
Hey could I just say -- these meringues are fantastic! They are like marshmallows with a crispy, wafer-like shell. These are like the easiest cookies I have ever made, or anyway the lowest-magnitude ratio of effort to quality of product. For some reason I always thought it was difficult to make them or there was a high risk of their not coming out good.
