I'm often surprised that Powerline isn't sued for copyright infringement by the creators of the Three Stooges.
Appropriately enough, Powerline fell prey to Rampant Capitalism.
On second thought, I'm surprised Paul admitted it. Why let the truth interrupt a good two minute hate?
Did no one consider that Jamil Hussein might have been behind the hacking?
I wonder whether it wasn't even more of an "inside job" and Paul tried to diffuse the situation. These are the Rathergate guys, right?
But that sounds a little paranoid.
Why let the truth interrupt a good two minute hate?
s/b
Why let the truth interrupt a good FireDuel with the TrollBugs!
These are the Rathergate guys, right?
These Seem to Be More Weasels. (Pitfall #8.)
Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals... except the weasel.
funny, I don't seem to get how that follows, standpipe bridgeplate.
"Pitfall #8" is just an attribution. I intended it literally, as in, these Rathergate guys seem to be more weasels.
This may be the single greatest post in the history of the internet.
I maintain the Stossel beatdown is the greatest post in the history of the internet.
It may not be the greatest post, but this is surely the greatest thread in the history of the internet.
I just got home after 40 fucking hours in transit. granted, 15 of those hours were laid over in LA, where we rented a hotel room for a while, and saw friends. but fuck, am never going anywhere ever, ever again. I had to wake up at 3am to get to dulles for my 6am flight. it was o-dark-hundred, people.
also, spackerman has heeded my demand to start commenting! excelllent.
am never going anywhere ever, ever again
We'll be the poorer for that.
Glad you made it home safe & sound.
SP: isn't Three Stooges public domain by now? Or did that whole Walt Disney thing a few years back encompass slapstick as well?
14: Yes: this man would unfortunately sercombe to negative and destructive forces...
Sercombe to teh malevolence!
14 -- Are you fogetting the glory of Innocence so soon? and for that matter of Fuck You Clown? Say it ain't so!
18- This site makes it sound like they're not- they included lots of ® signs. According to Wikipedia, there are four shorts and a pilot that the owners accidentally let into the public domain, but most of their stuff seems to still be under copyright. So Powerline could avoid infringement by claiming they're just copying the public domain shorts.
Someone needs to put the Powerline guys in touch with the helpful folks at attrition.org.
Actually, if you peruse the SITE Institute, MEMRI and the Counterterrorism blog, you can read all about how captured intelligence indicates that the warbloggers are al-Qaeda's number-one target these days.
Alameida even named me, I believe.
15: At the very least, your transit took you through an underrated building.
They hate us for our Cheetos.
"In other news, hackers who got access to local IT business Hostoco last night erased the well-known blog Powerline from their servers, causing thousands of dollars' worth of improvements.."
It would be awesome if there were a journal called Threat Analysis that would publish very short, pithy notes about threats, or threats to counterexample people.
Cheer up, guys! Someday there'll a real enemy... someday...
It would be bad to just link to this post every time one comes across some wingnut paranoid blathering, wouldn't it?
29: Yeah, if by "bad" you mean "totally awesome".
"We have met the enemy, and they are ours."
Speaking of which, why is Spackerman's blog now just sponsored links and no content? The terrorists?
