if you like reggie watts, keller williams does the same thing (phrase sampling), only with instruments and a bit less beat boxing.
Jamie Lidell does the same thing when performing live, plus Multiply is an incredible album.
Jon Brion also does that (or at least did the one time I saw him).
So basically all three of you are giving Watts the big yawn.
"This is a song about a very tiny robot that used to pull on my scrotum at night"
He's definitely very good, but the internet orgasm over the past few days surprised me a bit. This has been done before, apparently a lot more than even I thought. I wouldn't say I'm yawning, just trying to give some free publicity to the other people who've been doing phrase sampling live.
Indeed. I've already tried to publicize my friend Kid Beyond.
I've always liked rahzel's beatboxing a lot: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Znfcmj9wEjk
it gets good around 1:00
also, this http://youtube.com/watch?v=iaMcQ-FWstc
far better than anything from reggie watts
No yawns here; I've just seen a bunch of people saying the last couple days, "Never seen anything like this!" So I thought I'd suggest Jamie Lidell as somebody doing something similar. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkuiWgPzQwg
