Did you just call me out?
The :42 is long course meters, right?
Open water, actually.
You're kidding, right? SCY.
Yes, I was kidding.
I'm swimming tomorrow. If I am not posting tomorrow, I am either really busy or I went slower than a :42.
I don't think bust a nut is a phrase you should use for something you're doing in a swimming pool.
What, no embedded hyperlinks?

You can embed hyperlinks, if you do it right.
Ah, I see. Your fascist comment pre-processor insists on quotation marks surrounding the URL in the href tag.
If you saw Ogged swim, you'd bust a nut too.
Well, these random dudes on the internet are definitely going faster than :42.
:42 it is. I'll go Saturday or Sunday and report back.
Shocking news: Fast swimmers are often fast kickers. Rouse was an amazing kicker. I swam one summer with a guy at U of Arizona named Denis Baker who was an incredible kicker. It used to piss me off how fast he could kick.
But, dont be fooled into thinking that is the way to improve your own swimming as an adult.
If you say "snap your hips" again, we're going to have trouble.
All athletic endeavors can be improved with squat thrusts.
Isn't your kick rhythm tied to your stroke rhythm, so if you wanted to speed up your kick, you'd basically just be swimming faster overall? (I could maybe answer that question by looking at videos, but, you know, too gay.)
If I hadn't slept in, I would have kicked a :39. I have no doubt.
Ok, so I didnt have time to shave down or buy a Fastskin suit.
Maybe I will go at lunch time.
My ratios:
flutter kick with board = :45 with effort
freestyle swim = :29 approx 85 percent effort
Dolphin kick on back = :40 approx 85 percent effort.
Went to the pool today. Didn't really "work out", just warmed up a bit and did some 50s to see how fast I could go. 50 freestyle, from a push, touch-look-at-clock, :30-:31. 50 flutter kick, with a board, from a push, pulling with the board on the turn, :36. Limiting factor on the swim was the little muscles in my shoulder crapping out and leaving me unable to get a good catch. Kick was pretty evenly matched with legs, heart, and lungs all starting to protest in the last five yards.
