We had a family gathering, and stories were told about people whose dream was to move to Fargo and see the bright lights of the big city.
$7000 home, estimated payment $35 / month. Halfway between Fargo and Grand Forks.
Of course, the real bargains aren't listed by realtors.
Later would be much better for me, as I will be coming back all dirty and sweaty from the Sierras. But of course the decision should not be made on the basis of me, as then I would feel guilty if I didn't make it.
It might be that the folks who can show up at 4 intend to be around later as well. But if very few people can show up earlier, then we have an issue.
Earlier would be better for me -- train. But don't plan around me either.
Looks like Jupiter has live music on Saturday starting at 5. Will that be OK or make it hard to hear each other?
(figuring it depends on the layout of the place)
Contractions are 5 minutes apart. We're going to the hospital as soon as my wife gets off the phone with the nurse line. Send some warm vibes Minneapolis way!
Please enjoy the baby with my warmest regards.
Babies do taste best accompanied by warmest regards.
Hooray baby, Chopper, and Chopperess!
Are you taking your laptop to the hospital? The internet wants to know everything.
In the absence of warm regards a ganache will do.
Yay, Chopper!
Good luck, Choppo; stay out of the way.
congrats chopper + co!
i'll be at the meetup. 4pm should be okay, i'm guessing, but i am in town to hang out with a good friend, and i haven't decided whether or not i should drag her along, so i could be a little late depending on what we're up to.
Hey, I thought this was the North Dakota real estate thread.
Magpie and I will be there. The time doesn't particularly matter, although 4 would be a good time to stake out table space. The music shouldn't be too much of an issue, since it'll be outside; worse comes to worst, we head inside.
Yay, Chopper, Mrs. C. and little Moped-to-be. Excellent planning having the baby before the hottest part of the summer.
Yay baby!! Go Mrs. Chopper!!
4 works for me. And if we don't plan around Slol, I'll pout.
Carefully directing my Chopper-favoring vibes towards the baby, rather than another new job, because vibes in his case appear to be a powerful thing.
On another note, the chances of my travelling to D.C. for tonight and tomorrow night just increased drastically, I have a party I'd attend tomorrow night, but wouldn't mind saying hi to fellow mineshaft dwellers.
Yay babies! Congrats and good luck, Chopper family.
Congratulations and good luck, Chops.
26 - did you mean tonight or tomorrow night, WD? unfortunately i have plans both nights...
I'm occupied with work tonight; dunno if I can be much help.
I'm planning to be there. I think 4PM will work for me; later might be better, but I can't go too late.
29: I'll be getting into town around 11:00 tonight, I think. This wouldn't stop me from going out, but I can imagine it being an obstacle for others. I'd also be available for a chunk of tomorrow.
I won't be able to come after all -- life intervened and now we are going to have to stay in Santa Barbara for the next week or two, for the baby's burn treatment. Link to my personal blog would go here, if I kept one. He is going to be OK, anyway, he doesn't need skin grafts, just dedicated care of a large wound. Thankfully, he is still a very happy little guy.
And, upon reading the thread, sorry to screw up the good baby vibe going on, and big congrats to Chopper. Having a baby is truly joyous, even during tragedy.
Yeesh. I'm sorry to hear that. Best wishes for you all.
This thread was supposed to be just a logistics check, and instead...you never know what will happen when you hit the comments link around here.
Congrats to the new parents, and sympathies to Neil on what sounds like a very close call that might in the end turn out OK after all...
33: !!!!!!!!! Ayiyi! Condolences, poor little kid, I'm glad he's going to be okay, but, wow.
I'll be there, and 4 is perfect for me. Not sure how late I can stay.
Neil---good luck and speedy recovery to your happy little guy!
Chopper/Chopperetrix--congratulations & best of luck---many welcomes to the Choppernew!
I'll be there; 4pm is fine with me.
33: Jeebus. All good wishes to you guys.
33: Oh, man, the poor thing. If they prescribe Silvadene (sp?) for the burn care, that stuff is magic -- I had a giant scald on my legs as a teenager (quart of boiling coffee and grounds), and it healed without a scar. Come to think of it, though, that was twenty years ago, and there's probably something much better now.
All the best, Neil, sorry you can't make it. I had a co-worker whose toddler daughter got a quite nasty burn, but is fine now.
Oh no, Neil! Best wishes to him!
I've got plans tonight and tomorrow, w/d. Sorry! If things free up tomorrow afternoon, I've got your number.
Damn, Neil, what a nightmare. Good luck -- thank god they heal faster than we do.
Aw, man, Neil. Take care of the little dude.
OK.. I have to be there. You don't know me. I'm a lurker. I'll probably just sit at the nest table and stare at you. :)
'the canonical yell of "Who wants to sex Mutombo?" '
What, "Knives out, motherfuckers" is off the menu?
Wish I could be there, and best wishes to all. Have something single malt and/or craft brewed for me.
Perhaps someday there will be a meetup somewhere near KC that I can make.
People have recollected making the proposal in 48 before.
Goodness knows why I'm reading this thread, but I'm glad I did:
Neil - bloody hell, very sorry to hear about your baby, glad he seems to be doing well.
Chopper - hope everything went brilliantly and welcome to the Chopperette.
Well, that was easy. 5 hours from when we arrived at the hospital, no tears, calm throughout, no pitosin... Shit. It's almost disorienting compared to last time.
Oh my god, my wife is a champ. The baby is beautiful, y'all (despite the smooshiness, etc., in the pictures). Did I say pictures? Oh yeah.
Ogglewogglewiddle nose! Congrats, Chopper. She's beautiful.
Oh, what a beautiful baby (and Mrs C. looks charming herself). Yeah, when everything goes smoothly, it's still a very impressive process, but not so bad. And a very considerate time to be born -- allowing for cleanup, dinner, and maybe even some part of a night's sleep.
53: That's not a caecilian, it has limbs.
I would think the relevant criterion for being caecilian would be absence of eyes.
53 is so sweet, Chopper. Lucky Mrs. C.
The baby is wonderful, Chopper. I'll be at Jupiter's on Saturday.
I'll try and swing by...that Jupiter red ale is good stuff.
Sweet! Looking forward to meeting you folks.
Congrats, Chopper! Neil, best wishes for your baby's quick recovery!
And I want to have Opinionated Grandma's spidergrandbabies.
