Um, hello. There was a baseball game last night.
1- Initially I thought that was a parody.
2- Sorry, but wasn't 'Um' banned yesterday. 'Hmmm' is still ok, though.
3: Um, "Um" wasn't banned, it was described as condescending.
This seems like a correct description, so in the future I intend to preface all of my comments with um, so as to more clearly convey my attitude.
"Um" is only banned for use by women.
To protect them, you see.
Um is only banned for use by women when addressing men.
4- Ah, thanks. Who needs emoticons, right?
7: No, Who needs italics. What needs emoticons.
Damn it, if "um" goes, then "teh" has to go with it.
Clearly this thread is destined to be a baseball thread. I propose the following topic: Red Sox fans: delusional or evil?
teh teh ummm, teh teh um teh.
Without these, I'll have a harder time tapping out rhythms.
Tehtehumteh, mighty warrior, is that you?

You do realize that emoticons actually are banned here, right?
I'm emoticonally stunted at age 13.
Red Sox fans: delusional or evil?
Um, I don't see why we can't be both.
One way to actually enjoy reading a text containing emoticons is to imagine you are having a face-to-face conversation in which your interlocutor punctuates his remarks by making the faces emoticons indicate. I love the winks, and the ones that leave out the nose are also good.
"Um, red light."
{continues fiddling with dial}
"Um, red light."
"Huh?"
"RED LIGHT!"
"Oh, SHIT!"
{squealing brakes}
"Sorry! That was stupid!"
"We ain't dead, so no biggie. Even smart people get distracted."

Yes, BG, I do and take full advantage.
I can't believe none of you have substantively engaged Sen. Craig's explanation.
To wit: 8==): !?!?
I hate everything.
You've mixed up the lyrics again, heebie. It's "I Don't Love Anyone", silly.
Heebie ain't got no no-ose, Heebie ain't got no no-ose.
Don't listen to her, heebie! It's not your nose, it's just rfts's thumb between her fingers!
This seems as good a thread as any to post this press release:
Underwear with balls! Give his testicles a treat with Ballbra, the unique new underwear for men from LoveHoney.co.uk
Featuring a unique elasticated pouch, the Ballbra from LoveHoney.co.uk provides unrivalled lift, support and comfort for the penis and testicles during day-time wear. At night, the Ballbra becomes a high-tech sex aid which can be worn during sex to cradle the testicles and increase orgasm intensity. [...]
The act of putting the Ballbra on - or putting "the boys back in the barracks" as Alan Partridge so memorably put it - encourages men to handle their testicles and become familiar with them. As a result, they're more likely to notice lumps or changes which forewarn of the development of testicular cancer.
Um is only banned for use by women when addressing men.
I reject these accusations of sexism. If I ever notice myself prefacing a comment with "Um, " I say to myself, "Is that necessary? It looks condescending." And the answer usually is that the comment was, in fact, condescending, so I rephrase it in a more generous way. That is, if I notice myself making this mistake.
Um, 34, hello? We're all aware of [thing that only I am aware of], right? Read the archives, sweetie.
32: My wife, with a husband and son, would laugh at the idea anyone needed encouragement to handle.
encourages men to handle their testicles and become familiar with them
This is a problem for whom, exactly?
I still don't know my testicles on a first name basis.
Damn it, if "um" goes, then "teh" has to go with it.
Absolutely not. 'teh' is officially recognized by the Urban Slang Blog Institute.
I still don't know my testicles on a first name basis.
You call them Mr. T or something?
Um... in the pictures of the Ballbra, what exactly is it that's being censored?
42: A map of troop movements in the Anbar province.
37 anticipated my comment, but I am going to make it anyway.

Men need encouragment?
