Not downloaded yet, but that's an awesome track list. Odd synchronicity too, I was listening to Denise LaSalle this morning.
Hey, thanks for the share. Look forward to checking it out.
Today is client open-house so no downloading until I get home but mmmmmmm, tasty instrumental groove. I dig. Thank you!
As the occupant of a cloth covered cube, I look forward to long stretches here becoming more bearable.
I just want to say that your last mix, to which I finally got round to listening, was glorious. Thanks.
Yes, apo. Unfunkked has made me quite popular at the Food Co-op, and it also provided an excellent background for getting dressed for my reunion with girlfriends this weekend.
Woo hoo! I was just thinking about this variety of thread. Probably won't get to post for a while, but I'll post, by gum.
I'm quite fond of disc 2, lots of great instrumental stuff.
I happen to have a day off today, so maybe I can screw around and post a mix. That would be fun.
I'd love to know who's at the keys on the Pimpoint track. Smokin'.
11: I have an expansive definition of groove, but that track qualifies.
12: Josei.
"Who's The Realest", by The Herbaliser, is NSFW when opened up at high volume in the midst of a crowded office. You will have very little time to turn down the volume as the stoned expletives fly from your speakers.
Yes, there are about 10 or 15 rapid-fire instances of the word "shit" at the very beginning of Disc 1. Similarly, on Disc 2, "Rollin' On Chrome (Wild Motherfucker Dub)" contains the expletive you'd expect from the title. Sorry 'bout that.
"Long Dong Silver" might also be considered inappropriate for certain offices.
Hey Apo!
You made my evening man! Twice. The headline took me straight back to the schoolyard and the angst of trying to work out whether The Jam or Hawkwind were the way to bad attitude. The list is just right for a friggin evil night and a bottle of Zweigelt. Thanks.
I really dug your unfunkked mix. Thanx.
I Googed up that Harlem River Drive song "Seeds of Life" to try and tack down a couple of lyrics I couldn't make out ("Still he can't see, That the love won't last, Because ????? is, A woman's Halloween mask"). I couldn't find the lyrics to it anywhere but I did read a review panning the album as way too slick and professional, in which the reviewer commented that the album ends on an optimistic upbeat note! with "Seeds of Life." ("Now his woman cries, For what dead man's done, Oh what a waste, Shucks, what a waste, Oh what a waste, Of a man's life")
I look forward to enjoying this in my car, played from my iPod through my car stereo via a cassette adapter. Yet I can look forward to nothing but suffering instead of enjoyment, because my cassette adapter imagines itself to be perpetually at the end of a side. It flips back and forth, and I hear intermittent strains of Apo's mix between the ambivalent mechanic harrumphs of the device.
Help me! I may have to take this to the Mineshaft, which would just be lame. And I cannot see any kind of toggle on the inside that would set it to continuous play. This is not the first such device that has thwarted me in this way.
Not to be an asshole, but are our friends at the RIAA cool with this?
I don't think there have been any lawsuits over MP3 blogs. AFAIK, if they ask you to take the files down, you take the files down, and that's it.
'Cuz they've been kind of a pain in the ass of late. But maybe all of their energy is being spent on harrassing college students.
OTOH, there was that woman who just got dinged for like $200+k for filesharing....
Now, if the RIAA would help me stop my cassette adapter from switching program sides, they could earn back a lot of evaporated goodwill. Do you think dunking it in olive oil would help?
23: Isn't the "you" you're thinking of there the owner of the server rather than the person who posted the content?
My ISP once got a cease and desist e-mail because I'd downloaded stuff off a Torrent, but I've never seen anything come of MP3 blogs which generally operate on a much more cautious and industry-friendly model.
Since they don't waste their time going after blogs, I wouldn't know. The lawsuits are all against people on vast file sharing networks. Even when Drum links, we don't compete.
OK. I only pay attention to a tiny little piece of what they're up to, but that piece can be kind of ugly for the tiny percentage of people who come to their notice.
You people are wusses. Oh no giant scary trade organization is going to ruin your life for making the occasional mixtape downloaded by four or five people!
It was more the posted on the interwebs thing that I was thinking about, but I have no idea how they go about picking their victims and will shut up now.
Thanks, Apo! What a wonderful birthday present.
This thread is so dead. But my mixes are so live! Stay tuned, people!
Okay. Having enjoyed apo's mix, I now give back to the community.

Those mixes look fun, Sifu, look forward to downloading them tomorrow.
In other musical news, 11-year-old beginning saxophonists are not as melodious as one hopes they will someday become.
Not as melodious as Peter Brötzmann?!
Loud, though. Loud can be managed for a few seconds. Then the air runs out.
(40 is a little hard on Robeson, actually. The piece is from 1943, so allies, huge apocalyptic war and all that. But still.)
The piece is from 1943, so allies, huge apocalyptic war and all that
I thought I had Robert Wyatt's cover, but no such luck.
#46: Of course not. He was rushin'.
Where's your mixtape, Ben?
I'd say I'm working on it, but I'm not.
Just imagine something incorporating some Jaga Jazzist.
I'd say I'm working on it, but I'm not.
It's finished, but he left it at your mom's.
It can be intimidating to post a mix in this sort of thread.
There hasn't been a mix posted yet by one of the lady commenters, has there?
I made a mix that annotated all of my music-related comments here, along with links to all the comments in which I mentioned this music, but, as one can imagine, it's pretty schizophrenic--not a proper mix at all. Plus, narcissism!
That is, I didn't post it. Probably won't.
57: Dare you. Double dare you. I bet it's great.
Hey, I just tried to download the mix posted in 36 to my work computer and half the files came out corrupt or incomplete. I'm hoping this isn't a general problem -- can anyone who's tried to download it let me know?
Hm. I downloaded it, but haven't imported it yet. Let me try.
Hm track 5 at least had some problems. Not sure what the deal is.
Goddammit. Well, at least someone got it.
I swear to God that fucking Windows Media Player is somehow working bad juju, I'm just not sure how.
Hey, I downloaded all the music and it was awesome and I never said thank you to everyone so thank you. The tunes got me through a spell of... editing.
65: Cool...
And oh hey, maybe my computer's just fucked, as I can't extract Sifu's mix either. Weird.
