Good riddance!
I suspect that the Albany chokehold is about to be smashed, which should be very nice.
Yeah, Lord knows that all the lavish palaces going up around Albany for the last umpteen years have really rubbed their decadent opulence in the faces all the hardscrabble I-bankers down south.
It was kinda cool to see during the Spitzer thing that my old Assemblyman is now the minority leader. Sure, it would have been nice of ol' Sch'dy had voted him out for a Dem, but I guess that's what happens when the youth graduate thinking only of getting the fuck out.
I know nothing about NY state politics and I like it that way. I hope you don't mind if I vent my recent gripe about MN state politics. Our Governor Pawlenty is now openly shilling for McCain with lies and half truths and it pisses me off. I hope it rubs enough people the wrong way so we can boot his butt next election.
Thinking about Pawlenty makes me hungry. Mmm, Pawlenty.
Thinking about Pawlenty makes me think either sincere and horribly gullible or opportunist and terrible timing.
OT: Now that Ogged has retired, the blogosphere returns to harmony, as Standpipe unhiatuses and Althouse vlogs about her wattle arms.
I did not know that in Ebert's absence, the new At The Movies guys have retired the thumb ratings system in favor of "See It" and "Skip It" ratings.
Mm, sauteed Pawlenty with fresh tomato slices.
In Portland a lesbian reviewer rated movies by the number of fingers up. I believe that the respectable lesbians thought of her as an embarassment, but she could be pretty funny.
I've been listening to Brian Lehrer a bunch lately in order to try to get more up on local, New York issues. I'm not sure it's working. Yesterday he had Wayne Barrett on to talk about Bruno, and Barrett could not have been more thrilled, or slightly crazy-seeming.
This documentary (which I saw this evening) gives a fascinating glimpse of just how much power Bruno had--and his counterpart in the House, Sheldon Silver, still has.
