They just re-ran the commercial. It's called "Hyundai Assurance". I guess that's good or something.

I'm not the only one watching the playoffs, then.

The commercial-in-question claims that "we're all in this together." It's nice to know Hyundai is on my side.

The thing about sports bras is that I demand extreme binding from my sports bras. And almost all sports bras pull on over your head, which is absurd, and the wimpy low-impact ones are the ones which fasten in back. It's hard to get something very tight and binding over your head. This bra fastened in the back and was high impact. I miss it already.

I think this is your opening in the late night infomercial market:

"Tired of pulling tight sports bras over your head?"
[Video of frustrated Heebie struggling with bra, large red circle with slash trough it on screen]
"Or back-fastening bras that just don't bind?"
[Video of Heebie kickboxing, stopping to adjust bra, making frowny face, another circle-with-slash]
"Try the Hee-Bra!"
[Video of Heebie from behind, snapping bra shut, jumping rope with stabilized breasts and big grin on face]

The deal is that if it stretches enough to pull it easily down over your head and shoulders, it's not tight enough to give you a lot of support; none of the overhead bras are really high-impact. I do fine with the pullover bras, but I'm less well-endowed than the average of the Unfoggetariat.

The other thing that makes it a bit complicated is that I'm really not that stacked, (well, except right now I am), just very picky about being very well supported. And so the super-industrial bras all make more allowances for chestiness than I can fill. Which is why binding is really what I like.

Like what others said, if I got a high impact overhead bra, I'd want it so tight that it would be a real pain in the ass to get my head and shoulders through it. And even worse to get it off once its sweaty, as Parsi points out.

Sports bras are impossible if you have broad shoulders for your frame and big boobs. I have to wear ones that are sized like bras, but they don't seem that supportive, but the binding ones hurt (and as Heebie says, are absurd to pull on or off over my shoulders). Gah. I haven't been able to find a good one for years and so have been resigned to doing lower impact exercise. So I walk rather than run now (also better on the knees).

Does Franken have a whole lot of friends in the Village? You know Coleman does.

Bob, I'm pretty sure Franken is home free. Coleman doesn't have a legal case, and Minnesota Republicans don't seem to be planning to do much (Pawlenty has bowed out). Because of a recount mess a generation ago, the law is carefully written without any loopholes that I know of.

Even the rabid animals at Hot Air etc. seem more resigned and hopeless than militant. The media zombies will probably talk about a "controversial and flawed" recount, but that's about it.

The movie for tonight was, as usual my first viewing, David Mamet's Oleanna with William Macy and some nobody bimbette. Apparently Rebecca Pidgeon played the part on stage, and she would have been better, cause I think she is like really hott.

Well, I thought it was funny as I was writing it.

dcphillips33...for anybody who doesn't think IMDB or Amazon have good user reviews. I wish there were more. They would be easier to find there than at the blogs. I could not find any way to permalink that comment.

If given the chance, I might watch that movie ten times.

I suppose Oleanna is way old news for most of y'all. Reading more user comments, I noticed a lack of thoughtful feminists.

But But But...part of the point of the movie is that there really can't be a dialogue between the privileged and oppressed, so maybe feminists needn't bother with that forum, just as leftists shouldn't bother with liberals conservatives.

For the record, I don't think I was confused or conflicted for a moment during the movie.

I mix irony and sincerity too much I think.

Damn, there are weird reactions to Oleanna on the web.

It's a radical feminist/radical politics fable. Mamet brought to Washington for the Clarence Thomas hearings. I respect Rebecca Pidgeon enough to believe she would not marry an asshole.

From a position of power and privilege, you simply do not physically touch someone without invitation or permission. Does anyone remember how outraged I was by Obama groping HRC on the airport tarmac during an argument, when she recoiled in horror and terror? And we are confused about Rick Warren?

The only interesting questions are about if and how the patriarchy and bourgois academic establishment should be engaged.

I hate to go on with this, but I found the movie just plain exciting. I found a copy of the script online, with a slightly different ending from the movie. Apparently Pinter radically changed the ending for the London production, in ways that from the descriptions sound horrible.

After the Professor physically beats the student and almost kills her with a chair, they both sit:

Professor:"Oh My God" (realizing that he has destroyed his life and is headed to jail?)

Student:"That's Right." (believing that the Professor has finally understood the violence inherent in patriarchy & privilege?)

See, from the middle of the first act, I see one of Student's goals as enlightening, educating, and liberating the Professor from his bad faith and rationalizing bullshit. It's is as if he is at the University to get tenure and create a defensive edifice of verbiage and erudition to avoid actually having to teach. Student is acting from compassion.

Mamet, near where I got the script, has a short essay on power relations in the theatre. He ends with:"The oppressed must liberate the oppressor."
