Our schedules are open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday during the day (we're going to the Cubs game Monday evening). I haven't been to Chicago in 20 years, and Magpie's never been there, so I have no idea where to meet. We're staying near North Michigan, and won't have a car, so that probably narrows it down a bit.
So I take it that means you're out for the meetup then?
DC is the only proper place to have a meetup.
No, I was kidding. Wrigley is a great place to see a game.
As for the meetup, I would love to come! However, that weekend is tough. I have a wedding on Saturday at some point...for which my now out-of-town boyfriend is flying back in and I am.. let's say very eager to spend some time with him.
But Sunday could work. Or Monday day. If you want Sunday brunch I could take you to the best place there is. It's not great for a big group though, b/c they don't take reservations and it's quite crowded. You have to wait even for a table for 2, but you get to drink free coffee in the gay bar next door while you do, so there's that.
Why would a gay bar give me free coffee?
Related to meetups, I discovered that PGD is actually pgd and that Carp is too chicken to ask young ladies whether they want to sex Mutumbo.
I didn't hear you asking anyone, Will.
Why would a gay bar give me free coffee?
To attract other patrons.
People who aren't watching the Red Sox-Yankees game are really missing something. Damon just tied it up at 8, with a two run homer.
Why would a gay bar give me free coffee?
If you have to ask, then maybe you'd better stick to the straight bars, Ned.
Hey, bases loaded, Papi up: you want something more?
I'm pretty open that weekend as well, though I'll have class Monday in the late afternoon/evening.
I'm also around north Michigan, so I'll be able to easily get to pretty much the same places as you guys.
Why thank you, beamish. I did wear this shirt to match my eyes.
Hey, bases loaded, Papi up: you want something more?
Maybe he'll get his first extra-base hit of the year!
Really, you baseball people should be listening to Phils-Marlins. Talk about your exciting late-inning action. I'm not getting any work done, here, but it's worth it. Especially if they end up winning.
Update: Ha! 6-4 in 10 innings. Way to almost give me a heart attack, Lidge.
I didn't hear you asking anyone, Will.
You never wondered why all of those girls kept giving me weird looks?
18: You have to show up, so I can finally find out who The Lounsbury is.
The meetup should take place at Carol's. Everyone from out of town should know that Chicago sucks as much as every other major city.
Re:19 -- You forget that all Red Sox fans are under the mistaken impression that the rest of the world cares passionately about their team. Oddly, they never seem to be curious about any other team themselves.
Did you go to the Anscombe conference?
26: And did you post a meetup request? No you did not.
23: Sadly, I don't know. I'm not sure if Eve does, either.
You lucky bastard. Any particularly good sessions?
So we have Di and Rory, PMP, m. leblanc, and Scudder (I'm counting the "maybes" as "yeses", dammit), plus me and Magpie. I'm guessing that Monday makes the most sense, but I have no clue where to go. (I've been told that we need to go to Kuma's Corner, but I have no idea how appropriate it would be for a meetup spot.) Anyone got any ideas?
