It would be hilarious if this post got absolutely no comments.
Alas.
The commenters support me in e-mail submissions.
you're really e-mailing them to a big cavernous black hole
You're not black.
You're not black.
All together now . . .
Heebie's inbox is eight-miles wide.
5: Have we worn that one out yet? What do the hobo consultants say?
I'm no hobo consultant, but I say it's still good.
I knew a hobo consultant. He was my friend. And you, teofilo, are no hobo consultant.
Heebie has, like, 30 goddamned inboxes.
9: Now that one's fresh as a daisy.
10: It gets rusty with disuse. I'm doing a service to the community here.
4: I wasn't sure if the response you were looking for was "Racist" or "Black where it counts". Please advise.
And generally, what's all this horsesh%t about "wearing out" perfectly serviceable tired old jokes? The classics are classic for a reason. "Wearing in" is more like it.
An off-topic update, not that anyone really cares:
A while ago, Apo, Stanley and heebie were very helpful in finding a relevant thread on old homes, babies and lead paint.
We did 3 months of mitigation efforts (windowsill washing, mopping) and my daughter's lead levels are now undetectable.* So thanks, Unfogged, for helping me not panic.
*Of course, being paranoid, I don't believe this good news. But at least we're not moving 3 months into a 1 year lease.
15: Not to depress you, but did you ever see the later thread where Brock's kid did end up with elevated lead levels? Not the one you linked, another one.
This is t3h awesome. Not the lead bit, the idea bit. I did email a few post ideas to the Oggster (PBUH) back in the day. He shocked me when he rejected one story, saying he couldn't verify it. I mean, WTF!?
He shocked me when he rejected one story, saying he couldn't verify it.
Yeah, well he was like that.
This is t3h awesome.
You wouldn't believe the tons of e-mails I've gotten!1! By which I mean none.
I am drawing up my wishlist. (More accurately: I'm tryng to remember the thing I thought OO I shd post this on Unfogged about, ||-- |> style, except then I forgot. It was awesome, I imagine.)
14: Woo Klug!
Kai just tested with elevated, but not problematic, lead levels, but I did a bunch of demo work on lead-y eaves right outside a mostly-open window, and Kai crawled past it several times a day, so we know the source. We were also too lax about hand-washing with him. But that project is over, and crawling is just about behind us, so I expect this to be a one-time blip.

You guys are going to love the series of front-page posts on the cute things Iris says!
Because other people complain about the sticky keyboard?
I wish I was smart enough to contribute a post. It'll be my goal to get one on the front page.
I suggest writing about sprinklers. People LOVE that.
Megan, I thought of you the other day as I beheld the awesome works of man and nature at Grand Coulee. You're like the water-use angel angel out there in the unfoggedosphere.
I've never seen Grand Coulee, so I just looked up pictures. Man, that's a brute force dam, just a straight concrete line across a river. I like a gravity arch dam myself.
I don't have a post for you. I don't even have one for myself. I do have an idea, though. We should be able to draft a commenter to write a post. I haven't worked out the mechanics yet, but basically there'd be a nomination, a brief period to vote up or down (the nominee could campaign), and then a deadline to submit the post.
Do people want to hear about my cat? She's a really great cat.
(I expect the nominee to be campaigning against, btw)
Sorry to be dumb but what does "the domain here" mean?
regarding 14:
i recently helped my grandfather repaint an apartment he has (since i'm unemployed, and he's long in the tooth). i couldn't convince him the (old white lead) paint we were removing before repainting could be unsafe . it kind of made me think he's an asshole, an impression not helped by the big Reagan picture he has in his shop, or that my parents lived in one of his apartments for a year or two right after i was born. plus the reagan-medicare connection when he recently got his hip replaced. he didn't bother wearing a dust filter mask thing.

But for the email to get sent, you have to write it as ℝ.
Math nomenclature people are going to Hell for "clopen". SHUDDER.
Weird California news I've just seen:
Missing US girl found 18 years on has these these great quotes:
Jaycee Dugard and her daughters, 11 and 15, were kept in a "hidden backyard within a backyard", police say. ... "She was in good health, but living in a backyard for the past 18 years does take its toll," El Dorado County Undersheriff Fred Kollar said.
California to hold 'garage sale' . How much for Megan?
I haven't worked out the mechanics yet, but basically there'd be a nomination, a brief period to vote up or down (the nominee could campaign), and then a deadline to submit the post.
We'll need an enforcement mechanism. Who volunteers to be the one who tracks down and kills the commenter that fails to post within the deadline?
47: Just the person for the job! Those slashes are very intimidating.
See, I was thinking maybe M/lls could be the first victim "volunteer."
Would posts on variations of "McMegan is a fuckwit" be in bounds or not?
51: It's "McMegan is a jackass", you fuckwit.
You clearly need to bone up on your twatwaffle.
You clearly need to bone up on your twatwaffle.
IYKWIM.
I think we could get a 500-comment thread out of a debate over whether McMegan is best characterized as a jackass or a fuckwit. Comity would be reached when LB intervenes to argue in lucid, non-confrontational language that both positions have equal merit.
55: But then she and James have their own 500-comment extension where they go to the mat over some inapt inference that James makes during a tangential sub-discussion.
57: No. Check your email for my submission.
58: You left out "please, dark mistress . . ."
Oh goddamnit. I don't think my unfogged e-mail is working. I just thought no one had submitted anything.
Can you all re-submit to heebie dot geebie at geeemail?
I'm on a submarine mission to your inbox, baby.
64: Which one? She's got like 30.
I don't think my unfogged e-mail is working.
There's something the other Unfogged Posters have been meaning to tell you . . . .

Let me know
You have to write the post, silly.
69: Left as an exercise for the reader.
The post is barely too long to fit in the margins.
Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin interests me, seems almost claustrophilic compared to the Hudson River dudes. Theodore Rousseau did a little like this with Fontainbleu, but much darker. Orientalist?
Meanwhile reading up on episteme, techne, and aletheuein. neb could collaborate
Just being silly.
