Hana Kimura
on 05.28.20
Poncy Pearachter submitted this without comment: Hana Kimura: Suicide of Japanese wrestler blamed on online bullying. It's a quick read, but both sad and interesting.

This George Floyd killing was just murder, right? Sometimes there's a sliver of incompetence or panic that lets you make some sense of the officer's brain, but dude with his hand in his pocket, grinding his knee into Floyd's neck was just murdering.
Ex-NBA player Stephen Jackson was Floyd's good friend; he's been posting about it.
3rd Revolution Reading Group
on 05.27.20
If you're playing along at home, the gang is reading this book. The first two chapters will be written up by Ajay for June 9th, and the plan is 1-2 chapters per week thereafter, by such illustrious commenters as LW, Thorn, Dalriata, and Mossy Rochester. Have fun, you crazy nuts.

I thought this was a good piece, and it's not primarily about Roman v. Teigen.

Damn Dirty Bots
on 05.26.20
I think we all knew instinctively that any time a few extremists glom on to some destructive behavior - like protesting various governors mid-pandemic - that they're being fed a steady diet of that specific outrage by Russian and Chinese bots. I still find it very depressing, though.
Anyway, things have been re-opening in some parts for almost a month now, and it's clearly more of a slow burn than a second acute peak (aside from prisons, meat-packing plants, and retirement facilities). This NYT article summarizing the differential in experience between red counties and blue counties is also not exactly surprising, but feels like confirmation that our current dysfunction will stay cemented in place.
Guest Post - The pregnant alpha rabbit and other stories
on 05.25.20
Nworbie writes: We may have thought, on this blog, that the quest for a genuinely novel sexual act was futile. We were too certain, too early. Now the question has ended up in court . Because, even if Rule 34 states that every imaginable sexual act is already on the internet somewhere, someone must have put it there first, right? And maybe they own the rights to it.
In the past decade, more than 70,000 stories set in the Omegaverse have been published on the fan fiction site Archive of Our Own. As it became more popular, the Omegaverse transcended individual fandoms and became an established genre on its own ... On Amazon, there are hundreds of novels for sale, including titles like "Pregnant Rock Star Omega," "Wolf Spirit: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse Romance" and "Some Bunny to Love: An M/M MPreg Shifter Romance," an improbable tale involving an Alpha male who can transform into a rabbit.
I still own a copy of "Taken at the dinosaur Museum", the fruit of an earlier exploration into the economics of fanfic. I don't think I'm going deeper into this subject, not just for fear of getting knotted.
Heebie's take: Earlier I had admired the headline, "A Feud in Wolf-Kink Erotica Raises a Deep Legal Question."
