Clown interlude
on 08.23.24
It's a slow news cycle, right? I feel like the Olympics and the breakdancing woman passed by - (I couldn't bring myself to post about her) - and there was so much politics-wise to talk about, and now there's a bit of a lurch.
I do have these dumbass rodeo videos that I've been saving, but I don't exactly know what to do with them. Enjoy? Discuss the cultural trappings? idk.

It's been awhile! But I just have a few minutes to post, and then LOTS of extremely dull meetings all day, and so let's get chatty. Tell me, how are you?

Dagnabbit, I didn't post this Monday or Tuesday, and now the story is slightly less egregious.
A woman with a severe nut allergy ate dinner at Disney, verified with the waiter that the food was allergen-free, but then died of an allergic reaction. The husband filed a wrongful death suit.
Here's the egregious part (that Reddit couldn't get enough of):
Attorneys for Disney World are seeking to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit brought by a husband over the death of his wife last year because of the terms and conditions he agreed to when signing up for Disney+ streaming service several years earlier.
No really:
Disney, in a court filing reviewed by the Guardian, has responded and argued that the case ought to be dismissed and settled out of court because Piccolo agreed to the company's terms of use - which state that users agree to settle any disputes with the company out of court via arbitration - when he signed up for a one-month free trial of Disney+ in 2019, and again in 2023, when he purchased the Disney+ theme park tickets using his Disney account.
Attorneys for Disney claim that the Disney+ terms state: "When you create a Disney+ or ESPN+ account, you also agree to the Walt Disney Company's Terms of Use," which "govern your use of other Disney Services". The services include "sites, software, applications, content, product and services", which include the Disney Parks and Resorts website, they say.
Anyway, now Disney withdrew that motion, making them slightly less comically a villain. Bummer.
Albinism Protection

How about a un-convention-al thread? There's only so much you can say about a four-day infomercial.
Mossy Character sends in this link: Sadc adopts declaration to protect persons with albinism.
(They disabled highlighting/cut/paste on the link, so I had to get creative.)
Also there is an upsetting story about a child with albinism in Tanzania.

How about a convention thread? I hear good things about the first night.
Stretching
on 08.19.24
This has been on my list of post topics for a while, but I keep getting hung up on the words "deep squat".
Anyway: over the summer, my gym started incorporating a 1 minute deep squat hold during the stretching warm up. I love it and it's been transformational (in this admittedly narrow domain of my life). It now feels like a really comfortable, good stretch to get down there, instead of "why am I activating weird muscles that are going to burn out in ten seconds, and also I'm tipping over."
Back to my regularly scheduled sedentary lifestyle now! But really, the deep squat feels really good now.
