Don't ridicule me when I'm in the grips of scorn.
Hell, people have been crying "treason" whenever the President is criticized for years now. Like how the Vietnam protesters were responsible for us losing that war. It's hard to believe anyone can make this argument with a straight face anymore, but of course they still do.
If you want more comments on this post, Labs, you'll need to gay it up a bit.
Reid made one mistake. Instead of saying:
"The war is lost."
He should have said:
"George Bush has lost the war."
George Bush has lost the war
Implies somebody else could/should have won it.
I'm reminded of one of the great, and bizarre, protest songs. (Vietnam era, I think.)
"Implies somebody else could/should have won it."
No more so than using the passive voice. And frankly, I think many of the Dems who supported the war want to take that position.
But that wording makes it clear you're not blaming the troops, and more importantly, puts Bush on the defensive.
the harmful effects of the utterance instead of its truth-value
Arrest this man; he talks in maths.
I've been to Searchlight, bitches.
But I've never been to me.
If protesters lose wars, but protesters only protest when there's troops overseas, the way to win the most wars is clearly to send the least troops overseas.
I've never been to Searchlight, but I kinda like the music.
